Everyone needs a little help sometimes — and often, the hardest part is asking for it. It’s heartbreaking that food insecurity remains so widespread in our communities, even in one of the wealthiest countries in the world. The reality is that too many people worry about where their next meal — or their children’s next meal — will come from. We want to help change that, in every way we can.
At Mill Valley Pasta Co., anyone can visit one of our stores or farmers market booths and simply say they’re “picking up an order for Uncle Tony.” We’ll make sure they leave with enough food for a few meals. This discreet system helps remove the stigma or embarrassment that can come with asking for help — allowing people to receive support with dignity and respect.
When you make a “purchase” of the Uncle Tony Program item, your contribution goes directly toward providing meals or gift cards for those in need — whichever is most needed at the time.
At Mill Valley Pasta Co., we believe that food, and access to it, is a basic human right — not a privilege to be earned. We are deeply opposed to the politicization of food security programs and the use of SNAP benefits or federal food funding as bargaining chips. When you have plenty, you build a bigger table — not a taller fence. That’s what we believe, and we hope you do too.
